Happy Fall!

I hope you like the new background for the blog. I found it during night class last week. I know that probably isn't what I should be doing during night class, but it was better than sleeping- which is what I was tempted to do. Electricity arrived at the new house just in time for the fall season.

1/2 of the basement!

The basement is really starting to take shape!!! It now has two walls!!! I couldn't quite get the whole thing into one shot so I tried a pic looking down into the basement which seemed to work better.

The Forms are Up!

Well…some of them anyway. Yesterday when I got home, the forms for the entire south wall of the basement were up. Kyle said it only took them about 2 hours to get those up. At that rate it shouldn't be too long before all the forms are up and the walls are ready to be poured! I anticipate those to be the next pictures. Yeah!!

Basement- Part II

Here are some clearer pictures that include the footers that were poured yesterday and the walkout that has been dug since the first pictures that I posted. And, these ones were taken during daylight so that helps!

Basement- Part I

They began digging our basement on Tuesday. I didn't get to take pictures until Wednesday morning because we had a volleyball game on Tuesday night. (I did drag Kyle out there with the spotlight at 10 PM Tuesday night to show it to me though. Trust me, he loved every minute of that. He did it though and I love him for it!) These pictures didn't turn out very good. Apparently, it just isn't light enough for taking pictures at 7 AM! Hopefully through the blur you can see the mounds of dirt and a faint outline of the hole that will someday be our home! Check back for better pictures later.

Karter and Kolton pics

Karter and Kolton playing after our Labor Day picnic. Karter was determined to get a certain toy- even if that meant crawling through Grandma’s flowers!

Colts game

Here’s some pictures from a Colts preseason game. Kyle went to their first game in the new stadium. I don’t know if he was more excited to see Amanda Overmeyer (from Amer. Idol) or to see the game! He also got a great picture of Marvin Harrison making a catch.

Labor Day Activities

Last week, knowing Mandi’s love for the Beatles, the Knights invited her to a concert called the Classical Mystery Tour. This band impersonates The Beatles. They graciously allowed me to tag along. We had a really great time although we were disappointed that no one cried or fainted like when they saw the real Beatles. We were especially entertained by the accents. There is just something about hearing the word Indianapolis in an accent that made us laugh!! We also really enjoyed the snacks that Mary brought and weliked proving Roger wrong; we weren't the youngest people there by 30 years!!!

Other news:
-I (along with other school staff members) accompanied the White’s volleyball team to a Purdue volleyball game Friday night. My team must have been truly inspired because they played at a completely different level tonight. I was so proud of them. I wish I could put pictures up but I can’t because I must protect their privacy. We did get a great shot with Purdue Pete though.

-If all goes well, digging begins on our basement this weekend.

-We went on the longest canoe trip ever (7 hours!) this weekend with Nick and Holly and Mike and Bri. We launched the canoes at Manchester and took them out at Hwy. 15. The water was TOO low, we scraped bottom a lot, and had to paddle more than we would have like to. We still had a good time though.
